ABNR FOUNDATION'S EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP AND BOOK DONATION
On May 16, 2012, the ABNR Foundation launched a significant event, which marks:
- The signing of an MOU between ABNR Foundation and the Faculty of Law of Haluoleo University, Kendari, Sulawesi Tenggara, regarding cooperation in the granting of educational scholarships to prestigious students. Two out of nine students from the aforementioned Faculty of Law who applied for the scholarship were selected as recipients; and
- The donation of books by the Foundation to four libraries. Each of the libraries received 53 books of various titles, making a total of 212 books altogether.
The event was attended by Mr. A. Zen Umar Purba who represented the ABNR Foundation’s Board of Executive, Dr. Muntaha who represented the Haluoleo University’s Faculty of Law, and Mrs. Gita Prasodjo of the Nurani Dunia Foundation. Also present was a representative of the rector of Haluoleo University, Mr. Nafis Adwani of the ABNR Foundation’s Board of Trustees and Mr. Ferry P. Madian of the ABNR Foundation’s Board of Advisors.
In his brief address, Mr. A. Zen Umar Purba conveyed that scholarships and book donations are ABNR Foundation programs which have been ongoing for some time. In the year 2012, the Foundation is focusing on assisting the development of legal practice in Eastern Indonesia. As confirmed by Dr. Muntaha, Eastern Indonesia is quite behind in this respect compared to other regions. The Foundation is particularly aiming at improving the law resources and encouraging the increase of legal practitioners in that region.
