ABNR Advises on USD 82 Million Data Center Financing
ABNR Counsellors at Law acted as Indonesian legal counsel to Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, Jakarta Branch in connection with its USD 82,000,000 financing for the development of a hyperscale data center project in West Java, Indonesia. Upon completion, the facility is expected to provide approximately 20 MW of installed IT load, with capacity to scale to around 80 MW as the project is fully developed.
Data centers have become the beating heart of Indonesia's fast-expanding digital economy, powering e-commerce, digital banking (including BI-FAST real-time payments), video streaming, and increasingly AI workloads for a population of roughly 288 million with internet penetration now above 80%. Demand is further underpinned by data residency requirements, which are mandatory for public-sector operators and certain regulated industries such as financial services, as well as by a growing preference among cloud and OTT providers to localise infrastructure within Indonesia.
The ABNR team was led by Partners Emir Nurmansyah, Serafina Muryanti, and Maher Sasongko, supported by Associates Muhammad Irsan, Kenny Poltak, Claudia Inggrid, Marshel Miyata and Nadiah Salsabilla.
