ABNR Partner Speaks at IBA’s Asia Pacific Mergers & Acquisitions Conference in Tokyo

ABNR was invited to speak at the IBA Corporate and M&A Law Committee Asia Pacific M&A Conference, held 9-10 April 2026 at The Peninsula Tokyo.

Partner Rully Hidayat joined the panel "The Rescue or the Raid: Investment Opportunities and Strategies Abound for Distressed Assets?", alongside counsel from ArentFox Schiff (Sarah Fitts), A&O Shearman (Leona Healey), Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu (Masaki Mizukoshi), and Grant Thornton (Akira Wakamatsu), moderated by Andrew Ang of WongPartnership.

The session examined how private credit funds and strategic investors are navigating distressed markets in 2026, from loan-to-own strategies to defending against opportunistic takeovers, against a backdrop of rising rates, tariffs, and maturing pandemic-era debt.

The programme also featured a fireside chat with Chris Pilkerton, US Treasury Assistant Secretary for Investment Security, on CFIUS processes and the Outbound Investment Security Program.

Partner Bilal Anwari and Senior Associate Gerry Razi also attended as delegates, reinforcing ABNR's connections across the region.

Thank you to the IBA for organising a successful conference and to the 275+ practitioners who attended the event.
