ABNR Ranked Among Top-3 Indonesian Law Firms by ‘Legal 500 Asia Pacific’ 2019
ABNR has emerged with flying colors in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2019 rankings, reaffirming our status as one of Indonesia’s top-three commercial law firms. Overall, our legal expertise in a total of 12 key practice areas is recognized, while 19 ABNR lawyers are lauded as either “Leading Individuals” or “Recommended Lawyers” for their cutting-edge and innovative advice to corporate counsel.
The Legal 500 is one of the two most highly regarded international legal directories, ranking law firms in more than 150 jurisdictions around the world.
ABNR received Tier-1 rankings for Antitrust & Competition, Banking & Finance, Corporate M&A, Projects & Energy, Real Estate, Restructuring & Insolvency, and Shipping, and Tier-2 rankings for Aviation, Capital Markets, IT & Telecoms, and Labor & Employment.
In addition, the Firm was accorded a Tier-4 ranking for Dispute Resolution, no mean feat given the exceedingly tight competition in the Indonesian Disputes & ADR market at the present time. This ranking comes on the back of ABNR’s recent recognition as an “Indonesia Firm of the Year 2018” for International Arbitration, and Litigation & Dispute Resolution by In-House Community, a prestigious, Hong Kong-based network of in-house counsel at leading multinational corporations across the Asia, Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions.
Commenting on the 2019 rankings, ABNR Management Committee member Agus Deradjat remarked: “This really is most encouraging, particularly the Tier-1 ranking for Competition & Antitrust, given that Indonesia’s competition regulator, the KPPU, is one of the most activist in the region.”
Separately, Management Committee member Emir Nurmansyah said: “The legal directory rankings are important to us for many reasons: Not only do they highlight our expertise and leading position in the market, they are also a big help to us in continuing to attract outstanding young graduates from the country’s best law schools amid ever increasing competition for top talent.”
ABNR’s success in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific rankings comes hard on the heels of the Firm’s outstanding performance at the ALB Indonesia Law Awards 2018, where ABNR emerged as one of the top-two Indonesian law firms in terms of number of awards received.
Meanwhile, Management Committee member Nafis Adwani commented: “I think the accuracy of Legal 500’s practice-area rankings for ABNR this year is confirmed by the various other awards and recognitions we received throughout the course of 2018. Needless to say, we are all very pleased. It was also very encouraging for us to be named a 2018 In-house Community ‘Most Responsive Domestic Law Firm’ for Indonesia.”

Thank You to Our Clients
While recognitions, awards and accolades are of little importance compared to the universal values we adhere to, such as hard work, responsiveness, ethics and probity, they nevertheless help to further motivate our lawyers to go that extra mile to ensure the satisfaction of you, our clients, and the success of your ventures. At ABNR, we firmly believe that the very raison d’etre of a law firm is to serve its clients.
So, we would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of you for your continuing support, without which our achievements this year and in the past would never have been possible. We value the confidence and trust you place in us, and are committed to doing everything we can to ensure your satisfaction and favorable outcomes for your projects.
As the country’s longest-established law firm (founded 1967), ABNR pioneered the development of international commercial law in Indonesia following the reopening of the country’s economy to foreign investment at the end of the 1960s. Today, we enjoy a reputation that is second to none, as vouchsafed by our reconfirmation in 2018 as the exclusive Lex Mundi member firm for Indonesia for a further period of six years (Lex Mundi is the leading global network of independent law firms).
With over 100 lawyers, we are also the largest independent, full-service law firm in Indonesia and one of the country’s top-three law firms by number of lawyers, thus giving us the scale required to simultaneously handle large and complex transnational deals across a range of practice areas.
