2nd ABNR Morning Dialogue on 24 September 2026: Preparing for International Arbitration

For Indonesian companies doing cross-border deals, the dispute resolution clause is often the last item negotiated and the first one tested when things go wrong. Which institution? Which rules? Which seat? Which governing law? Each choice shapes the cost, speed and outcome of a dispute years later.

That was the thread running through the ABNR Morning Dialogue on 24 September 2026, "Strategic Insights for General Counsel: Preparing for International Arbitration."

We brought together General Counsel and senior in-house counsel to discuss:

  • Key characteristics of ICC-administered arbitration

  • 2026 ICC Arbitration Rules, including recent developments aimed at improving efficiency, speed and transparency, such as early determination, expedited procedures, emergency arbitration, enhanced arbitrator disclosure requirements, and the ICC Court’s institutional supervision and scrutiny of awards.

  • Key considerations in the drafting of arbitration clauses

  • Issues to consider when initiating arbitration proceedings

  • Insights and preparatory steps when initiating arbitration proceedings

Thank you to our speakers and moderator:

  • Tejus Chauhan, Director of Arbitration & ADR (South Asia), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)

  • Irene Mira, Deputy Director of Arbitration & ADR (South Asia), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)

  • Theodoor Bakker, Senior Foreign Counsel and Arbitrator, ABNR

  • Adithya Lesmana, Partner, ABNR (Moderator)

Our thanks to the in-house legal community, representing energy, mining, banking, pharma, consumer goods and telecom, for joining us and contributing to a thoughtful discussion.
