In Loving Memory of Prof. A. Zen Umar Purba, S.H., LL.M (1942 -2025)
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Prof. A. Zen Umar Purba, S.H., LL.M, Of Counsel at ABNR Counsellors at Law, on Thursday, 9 October 2025 at the age of 83.
Prof. Zen was a beloved teacher, mentor, and colleague whose warmth, intellect, and generosity inspired everyone who had the privilege to know him. A lifelong scholar and a pioneer in Indonesia’s intellectual property law, he dedicated his career to advancing legal education and strengthening the country’s legal framework.
He joined ABNR in 1986 as a partner and remained a guiding presence in our firm for nearly four decades. His contributions extended far beyond the firm, as a professor at Universitas Indonesia, a public servant, a writer, and an arbitrator. His passing is a profound loss to ABNR and to the wider legal community.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
