Indonesia's OECD Journey: ABNR Shares Competition Law Insights with the OECD

On Friday 25 September, we were honoured to contribute to the OECD Competition Committee's Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) at the offices of the Indonesia Competition Commission (KPPU), as part of Indonesia's OECD accession process.

The FFM assesses Indonesia's competition law framework, institutions, and enforcement practice. It also opens a dialogue between Indonesia, OECD members, and the OECD Secretariat.

Representing ABNR, Bilal Anwari (Partner) and Gustaaf Reerink (Foreign Counsel) shared practitioners' insights with the OECD delegation on developments, challenges, and opportunities in Indonesian competition law.

As advisers on merger control, antitrust investigations, and compliance, we believe an effective, transparent, and predictable competition regime builds business confidence, attracts investment, and supports Indonesia's long-term growth.

We welcome the view that accession is not an examination but a collaborative effort. It aims to identify improvements that reflect Indonesia's legal, economic, and institutional context and support the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. ABNR remains committed to a robust, internationally aligned competition law framework in Indonesia.

We thank the Indonesian Competition Lawyers Association (ICLA) and the KPPU for facilitating this engagement. We also thank Wouter Meester and the OECD delegation for a constructive discussion.
