Justin is an associate at ABNR specializing in general dispute resolution, encompassing matters of arbitration, litigation, investigation, restructuring and insolvency.
In arbitration, Justin has represented a foreign client in a property and contractual dispute before the Indonesia National Board of Arbitration (BANI). He has also assisted with advisory work on Indonesia’s arbitration framework and the recognition of arbitral awards. Additionally, he also participated in the preparation process of an expert opinion to be used in a dispute before the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) on Indonesian construction and occupational health and safety matters.
In litigation, he has advised clients on pre-litigation commercial, contractual, and tort matters, and assisted in representing clients before civil and administrative courts at all levels. His experience includes representing a foreign shipping company in a ship collision dispute before a district court and assisting a palm exporter in filing a lawsuit against a state institution over a non-tax state revenue dispute.
In investigation, Justin has supported internal compliance investigations for multinational clients, focusing on fact-finding related to alleged employee misconduct. He also assisted in investigating alleged financial fraud involving certain parties at a major foreign bank in Indonesia.
In restructuring and insolvency, Justin advised the trustee of noteholders in filing a claim worth IDR 7 trillion (approx. USD 480 million) in the 2024 bankruptcy of Sritex Group, Southeast Asia’s largest textile manufacturer. More recently, he advised a creditor in the suspension of payments proceeding of a major pharmaceutical distributor and a foreign creditor in a similar proceeding involving a large Indonesian nickel distributor.
Additionally, Justin has experience in mergers and acquisitions, particularly in due diligence across diverse industries, with emphasis on financing arrangements, employment, and litigation. In aviation, he regularly assists clients with aircraft transactions, including financing, purchase, leasing, and repossession.
Justin graduated top of his class from the University of Indonesia in 2024, specializing in Private International Law, with a thesis on international investment arbitration. He received a scholarship for an exchange program at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied International Trade Law and Sports Law. During his studies, he competed in the Pax Moot Court Competition (2022) on European trade law, ranking 6th overall and 2nd among Asian teams.
