Reza has been an associate at ABNR since 2021, focusing on shipping & maritime, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and foreign direct investment (FDI). He also has experience in cross-border and domestic transactional matters, including debt restructuring and project finance.

In the shipping & maritime sector, Reza advises on both regulatory and transactional matters, including vessel sale and purchase, financing arrangements, ship registration and reflagging, and compliance with Indonesia’s cabotage regime. He has handled charter party contracts, ship mortgages, wreck removal, and shipbuilding agreements, and regularly supports clients on licensing and maritime compliance matters. His recent experience includes advising a Netherlands-based offshore logistics group on Indonesian shipping company establishment and cabotage compliance for a major oil and gas infrastructure project; assisting the Indonesian subsidiary of a Dutch dredging company in setting up a joint venture and resolving cabotage and licensing issues; and advising on the Indonesian aspects of a regional freight logistics acquisition, including freight-forwarding regulatory issues and customs clearance readiness.

In M&A, he has worked on the acquisition of several companies as part of integrated upstream-to-downstream business development projects. His role includes legal due diligence, deal structuring, and negotiation to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with clients’ commercial goals. He was also part of the ABNR team advising on the cross-border acquisition of a multi-jurisdictional animal nutrition company, which involved subsidiaries in Indonesia, the UK, the Netherlands, and Malaysia, and was governed by the laws of the State of Delaware.

In the FDI sector, Reza advises international clients on the establishment and structuring of foreign investment companies in Indonesia. He recently assisted one of the world’s largest shipping companies in setting up an Indonesian subsidiary, from incorporation through to licensing and regulatory approvals. He is also involved in the incorporation of a new Indonesian subsidiary for a global logistics company as part of a Southeast Asia-wide acquisition, and in structuring a joint venture for a dredging operator to enable project execution under Indonesia’s cabotage regime.

Reza also supports matters beyond his core practice areas. His experience includes advising aircraft lessors in the debt restructuring of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, and acting in the project financing of a hydropower plant involving a subsidiary of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero).

Reza graduated cum laude from Pelita Harapan University in 2018 (Business Law), and obtained an LL.M. (with Merit) in International Commercial and Maritime Law from Swansea University, UK, in 2019.
