Nina Cornelia Santoso joined ABNR in April 2015 and became a senior associate in January 2022. She graduated cum laude from the Faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia in 2015, majoring in Business Law. During her undergraduate studies, she was a board member of the Asian Law Students’ Association (ALSA) Local Chapter University of Indonesia and became a semi-finalist at the ALSA International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition 2014 in Singapore. In 2020, she earned a first-class LL.M degree in Commercial Law at the University of Cambridge, UK.

Nina’s main areas of professional practice encompass Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT), Competition, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

In TMT, she regularly advises high-profile multi-national and local companies on privacy and data protection, internet-based products and services (digital platforms, social media, online games, cloud computing, e-commerce, over-the top services), cybersecurity, and content moderation. She occasionally advises clients on telecommunications networks and services matters (including subsea cables). Her graduate studies at the University of Cambridge also contributed to her profound knowledge of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Her Competition work includes representing clients in post-merger notifications to the Indonesian Competition Commission (KPPU) and advising commercial arrangements from antitrust perspective. She is also familiar with the EU Competition Law from her time at Cambridge.

Nina has extensive advisory and transactional experience in M&A, as she has taken part in numerous projects and transactions, including an acquisition by a UK-based chemicals manufacture and distribution company of a local company in the same sector in 2020-2021, and an acquisition by a Dutch-based foods and chemicals distribution company of a local company, also in the same sector, in 2021. Her recent assignment includes the acquisition of land for data center development in Batam by GDS Services Ltd. (a leading data center provider in China). She is also well-versed in various legal due diligence issues for M&A purposes.

In FDI, she has assisted a myriad of foreign investors in establishing presence in Indonesia, including providing guidance on the suitable lines of business under the Indonesian standard classifications, and use of the country’s online investment licensing portal (OSS), and other regulatory and compliance issues.

Apart from her main areas of practice, she was also involved in several major transactions in the capital market (rights issue of PT Adhi Karya, Tbk in 2015; initial public offering of Samurai 2K Aerosol Limited in Singapore in 2016-2017; issuance of global bond by Geo Coal International Pte. Ltd. in 2017), infrastructure (Light Rail Transit Jabodebek project of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) in 2017-2018), and project finance and development (assisting regional government in a public-private partnership development project) sectors.

Nina also regularly contributes articles to publications on TMT, Competition, and M&A. She is a co-contributor to Lexology GTDT Dominance 2022, published by Law Business Research Ltd.

Nina has passed the bar examination held by PERADI (Indonesian Advocates Association) in 2021 and is currently waiting to be sworn as an advocate.
