Bernessa, an associate at ABNR, focuses her practice on technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), competition, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), and banking & finance.

Her TMT work includes personal data protection, social media, digital content compliance, cybersecurity, online gaming, and general advice on technology services and compliance in Indonesia. She recently served on a team that assisted a leading Indonesian telecommunication company with the establishment of a new subsidiary. She is also familiar with the e-commerce sector and has advised an Indonesian unicorn on the compliance of its products with the prevailing laws and regulations.

In competition, she regularly advises clients on Indonesia’s antitrust framework and procedures, and post-merger notifications to the Indonesian Competition Commission (KPPU). She recently assisted a multinational technology company to file an abuse of dominant position complaint with the KPPU against one of its competitors.

She has also worked on a series of major M&A and banking & finance transactions, primarily involving financial institutions, as well as domestic and offshore financing transactions. Her recent projects include the acquisition of an Indonesian bank by a South Korean life insurance company and a SGD 50-million bond issuance by Erajaya Digital Pte. Ltd.

Bernessa joined ABNR as a trainee associate in November 2022 and was made an associate shortly thereafter. She graduated cum laude from Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, majoring in business law.
