Indonesia’s Commodities & Futures Regulator Publishes Updated List of Approved Overseas Investments
Indonesia’s Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (“Bappebti”) has issued the latest iteration of its list of approved futures and other derivative contracts traded on overseas futures exchanges. The list, which is updated annually, is of considerable interest to Indonesian investors as it allows them to directly deal in such instruments through a Bappebti-licensed Indonesian futures exchange.
The updated list, which is set out in Bappebti Regulation Number 2 of 2022 (“Reg. 2/2022”),[1] includes mainstream and well-known futures and derivatives contracts, as well as new products from tech giants such as Apple, Google, and Meta (formerly Facebook).
The NASDAQ is once again on the list, while the addition of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) makes financial entities such as Bank of America Corp., JPMorgan Chase & Co., and MasterCard Inc. more easily accessible to local investors.
In addition, the list includes Micro WTI Crude Oil Futures from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), and MSCI China A 50 Connect Index Futures from Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX).
