Bernessa is an associate at ABNR whose primary areas of practice include technology, media and telecommunications (TMT), competition law, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
In the TMT sector, Bernessa advises clients on a wide range of regulatory and commercial matters, including data privacy and protection, cybersecurity, digital content compliance, online gaming, social media, and e-commerce. She routinely assists multinational and domestic clients in navigating Indonesia’s personal data protection regime. Her recent work includes conducting privacy gap assessments for a leading US-based healthcare company and a prominent Indonesian real estate developer, identifying compliance risks and developing mitigation strategies in line with Indonesia’s evolving data protection laws.
Her competition law experience includes advising clients on antitrust compliance and post-merger notification requirements to the Indonesian Competition Commission (KPPU), as well as assisting in investigations and litigation. Notable matters include advising a major US-based private equity firm on merger filings for multiple transactions, representing a global technology company in an abuse of dominance complaint filed by its competitor with the KPPU, and supporting a leading international online travel platform in litigation before the KPPU.
In M&A and general corporate matters, Bernessa has participated in numerous due diligence exercises, share transfers, and transactional structuring projects. Most recently, she was involved in the acquisition of an Indonesian commercial bank by a South Korean financial services group in 2025.
Bernessa joined ABNR as a trainee associate in November 2022 and was promoted shortly thereafter. She graduated cum laude from Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, majoring in business law.
