Mr. Nugroho Wisnumurti joined ABNR in April 2004. He is a lecturer of International  Law and Diplomacy at the Faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia since 2004. He served as a member of the United Nations International Law Commission from 2007 to 2011 and from 2012 to 2016. He has also served as a Member of the WTO Dispute Settlement Panel of Judges on China – Measures related to the importation of various raw materials (from March 2010 to April 2011). Mr. Wisnumurti had served as the Indonesian Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York from 1992 to 1997, and concurrently as the Indonesian Ambassador to Jamaica, the Bahamas, Guatemala and Nicaragua. He represented Indonesia in the UN Security Council from 1995 to 1996. His latest government assignment was as the Indonesian Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations, including the WTO in Geneva, from October 2000 to January 2004.

 

From 1997 to 2000 he served as the Director-General for Political Affairs, Department of Foreign Affairs. He also served as the Director for Legal and Treaties Affairs, Department of Foreign Affairs, from 1987 to 1989. He has been involved in the negotiations on the law of the sea leading to the adoption of the 1982 Convention on Law of the Sea. He has an extensive experience in negotiating and concluding international agreements, e.g. agreements on land boundary and maritime delimination and on fisheries. He earned his Master of Laws  degree (S.H) from the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia, and his LL.M degree from Columbia University School of Law. His work in the firm involves international trade law, including WTO related matters.
